Guaber has access to the research laboratories of Fumakilla Ltd, a world-leading Japanese insecticide company.
Most of the ingredients used in Vape products derive from the natural substances contained in pyrethrum. These pyrethrin substances are identified and modified to render them more effective against insects but less toxic to humans (synthesized pyrethrins).
The efficacy of Vape products is studied in Japan (or at specialized Italian institutions), where a specialized laboratory breeds insects in order to conduct comparative studies on the various formulations developed by the Japanese or Italian research laboratory. It is not only the type of active ingredient that influences the efficacy of the product but also a series of important factors such as the delivery method or the packaging structure and the way in which the product is used, in other words how the consumer uses the products. This is why the studies are very carefully devised in conjunction with marketing and research.
Guaber established the Vape Foundation in 2004 to support scientific research and the social fight against harmful insects. Since that time, the Foundation has developed important research, information and solidarity projects, through both the efforts of its Scientific Committee and the collaboration of both public and private entities.
The toxicity of the products is determined by a variety of factors, the most of important of which is the type of active ingredient and also the other components of the mixture, which should not be underestimated. This is precisely why Guaber uses active ingredients which are less toxic to humans and develops its own water-based aerosols, eliminating the organic solvents of the active ingredients.
Samples of the Vape products are inspected during manufacture to determine the amount of active ingredient and fill levels. The inspected samples are stored to ensure traceability of the production batch.
Every product has a median life, which means that it loses its efficacy over time due to the natural degradation of the active ingredients. Guaber and Fumakilla pay particular heed to developing formulas that remain stable over time. Obviously we cannot prevent products from degrading but we can slow down this process by means of the formula and thus ensure maximum eficacy over the long term (generally 3-5 years).Samples of all products are taken from each production batch and kept for analysis to determine the condition of the product after several years.
